LUS Fiber in collaboration with U.S. Ignite, Adoxio Business Solutions &  Experimental Civics, join forces to hack the beginning of a new era of innovation, economic development and Smart City initiatives in Lafayette. During LUS Fiber Smart City Challenge hackathon, we invite all sectors in Lafayette from students, city and state leaders along with members of the tech community and local transportation community groups to unite, network and solve for impact in the areas of public safety, traffic, commuting and transportation.

We are planning to hack 4 Problem Statements

• Public Safety
• Do you feel safe using public transit in Lafayette? How do you get to where you want to go? Help us hack how you can walk to work, bus to get the groceries, and bike to the park.
• Traffic 
  • Every minute a community member spends in traffic is a minute of lost productivity or leisure. You know this. Any ideas on how we can improve our congestion? Share them at our hackathon.

• Commuting

• Lafayette, LA is a fast-growing commuter town suffering from increased traffic congestion. Help us hack our high insurance costs and manage commuter journeys.

• Transportation
• Flow of traffic is critical for everyone including our emergency response teams. Help us solve how to better monitor and improve the traffic in our city.
